Clearpay joins British Beauty Council as patron

August 21, 2025United Kingdom

DISTRIBUTED-WORK-MODEL/LONDON, August 19, 2025 – Clearpay today announced that it has become a patron of the British Beauty Council, a not-for-profit organisation that engages with businesses and government to support the British beauty industry.

With a beauty purchase being made every 11 seconds with Clearpay, the industry has long been a core sector for the leader in Buy Now, Pay Later. Recent data reinforces this importance, with more than a quarter (28%) of active Clearpay customers shopping beauty, and beauty sales rising 18% year-on-year.

Rich Bayer, CEO of Clearpay, said: “The majority of Clearpay customers who shop beauty are millennials and Gen Z. We find that they are incredibly engaged and they shop more frequently than our average customers. With our patronage, we will actively support the organisation that represents what is important to our customers.”

Millie Kendall OBE, Chief Executive of the British Beauty Council, said: “As people continue to invest in beauty despite economic headwinds – spending £32.4bn last year – we are delighted to announce our new partnership with Clearpay. This will unlock insights and data on consumer behaviours that will undoubtedly aid the Council’s work with government and offer unique educational opportunities for fellow patrons and members.”

Clearpay is the exclusive BNPL partner for the British Beauty Council for the next 12 months.

About the British Beauty Council:

The British Beauty Council is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to solving beauty’s shared current – and future – challenges. It represents the wider industry by generating conversation with government whilst also supporting sector-specific trade organisations.

Since its inception in 2018, the British Beauty Council has proven itself as the champion of the beauty industry, providing support to hundreds of thousands of workers.

We work with various global economic, strategy and insight experts, including Oxford Economics, to value and detail the beauty industry – confirming influential statistics including the size of workforce and total contribution to UK GDP.

In 2024 the Council reported that the industry was valued at £30.4billion and it contributes around £8.6bn in UK taxes. Beauty also supports a predominantly female workforce of 700,000 people.

Understanding the value and contribution of our industry enables us to have a strong voice at the table to champion the issues that matter.

Despite its resilience and consistent growth – the beauty industry – like so many industries – is facing challenges in these troubling times.

By collaborating with a diverse network of patrons, affiliates and members, the British Beauty Council tackles the most pressing industry issues so that every sector within the industry can thrive.

Our work currently encompasses four main pillars: Policy and Influence, Talent & Careers, Trade & Export and Investment, Innovation and Technology.
